ASPECT Consultancy Report

The ASPECT Consultancy Report - A National Report on the Needs of Adults with Asperger Syndrome - can be downloaded, free of charge, from this website. This report was compiled by Luke Beardon, Senior Lecturer in Autism, Sheffield Hallam University and the late Genevieve Edmonds, an individual with Asperger Syndrome, who tragically died in February 2008.

More information about Genevieve's work can be found on her personal website, which it is hoped will live on, providing a link to the work that she did for the Asperger adult community and news on the work that continues in her memory.

The ASPECT Consultancy Report can be downloaded in full here (367 Pages, 1.8MB PDF) or in the form of an Executive Summary (22 Pages, 145KB PDF)

You will need Free Adobe® Reader in order to view these documents. If you do not already have this software, it can be downloaded here

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who contributed an ASPECT Questionnaire online or by post.

About the ASPECT Project

ASPECT Action Day ("Asperger Syndrome People Each Contributing for Themselves") was held on 27th April 2006 in Manchester, as a day solely for adults (16 years of age and older) with Asperger Syndrome, to feed directly into a document being developed by the Disability Rights Commission (titled “A Manifesto for Neurodiversity”). This document will be presented to the Government.

The ASPECT steering group was facilitated to hear from Asperger adults what their support needs are.

"Are you a charity/support organisation?"

No, the ASPECT group was purely formed for the purpose of organising the consultation event and has since disbanded. It was not a political movement, a disability rights group, or a support organisation for autistic/Asperger/neuro-diverse adults. Although the report was co-authored by Luke Beardon, the ASPECT group was not set up by nor was it in any way funded by Sheffield Hallam University.
